Abu Dhabi-based destination company Miral and Emerge, a joint venture of Masdar and French multinational utility company EDF, inaugurated the 7-megawatt peak (MWp) rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) project at Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi theme park, located on Yas Island.

The rooftop solar photovoltaic project is Abu Dhabi’s largest solar rooftop plant and makes Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi the region’s largest solar-powered theme park.

The project includes an estimated 16,000 solar modules across the theme park’s roof area of 36,000 square metres, producing nearly 40 percent of its annual energy demand.

The project agreement included a full turnkey solution, covering design, procurement, construction, and operation and maintenance of the plant.

Emerge, which developed the rooftop solar system for Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, is also developing rooftop solar PV systems for Miral’s SeaWorld Abu Dhabi theme park on Yas Island, which is set to open this year.

The agreement to develop solar rooftop project at Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi was signed in October 2020.
