Emirates Airline has cancelled flights to and from Düsseldorf, Germany as airport workers go on strike to demand better pay.

The strike, initiated by two trade unions in Germany, Verdi and Komba, have prompted the Dubai-based airline to cancel the following flights today:

EK055: Dubai to Düsseldorf

EK056: Düsseldorf to Dubai

EK057 : Dubai to Düsseldorf

EK058 : Düsseldorf to Dubai

“Customers connecting to Düsseldorf on the impacted flights will not be accepted for travel at the point of origin. We regret any inconvenience caused to our customers,” Emirates said in a statement.

Affected passengers are advised to contact the airline or their travel agents for alternative arrangements.

The two trade unions in Germany had previously announced a walkout at two major aviation hubs in Germany, Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) and Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN).

It is the latest in a series of walkouts that have disrupted German airports in recent weeks.

The latest protest was scheduled to start at Cologne/Bonn on Sunday, with the strike at Düsseldorf to follow soon after.

Scores of flights operated by other airlines have already been cancelled for today.
