ERC highlights Sheikha Fatima’s humanitarian initiatives on Emirati Women’s Day

The Emirates Red Crescent Authority (ERC) celebrated Emirati Women’s Day at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi under the slogan “We Collaborate for Tomorrow” in the presence of Maitha Al Shamsi, Minister of State, and Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, Secretary-General of ERC, in addition to a number of officials, employees,9 and volunteers.

During the celebration, Al Shamsi stressed the pioneering role of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), praising Her Highness’ prominent contributions to promoting human values and social compassion.

Al Shamsi said that Her Highness Sheikha Fatima’s unique approach established a culture of giving and solidarity, noting that Her Highness’ humanitarian initiatives have conveyed to the world the UAE’s approach to sustainable giving and empowering less fortunate communities.

Al Shamsi added that Her Highness Sheikha Fatima’s approach to humanitarian work is based on achieving the sustainability of development projects and their direct impact on improving the quality of life of those targeted.

She stated that Her Highness believes that long-term projects that contribute to achieving stability and community development are more beneficial than temporary direct aid.

The minister praised the achievements of the Sheikha Fatima Fund for Refugee Women in African countries, commending the success of these projects in achieving their goals of stability and development of refugee-hosting communities.

She called on female employees and volunteers in the ERC to follow the thinking and vision of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak in the areas of giving and humanitarian giving.

For his part, Al Mansouri expressed his appreciation for Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak’s initiative to dedicate August 28 of each year to celebrate Emirati Women’s Day.

Al Mansouri stressed that this initiative reflects Her Highness’ deep understanding and great appreciation for the growing role of Emirati women in all fields.

Al Mansouri pointed out that Emirati women have received care and support from the wise leadership of the country, which contributed to their reaching the level of leadership and excellence that they enjoy today.

He praised the contributions of Emirati women in the humanitarian and volunteer fields, noting that they have proven their high efficiency and superior ability in dealing with humanitarian issues and relief missions in disaster and crisis areas.

He stressed that Emirati women will remain an honourable model in providing support and assistance to humanity, stressing that giving and altruism are among their most prominent distinctive qualities.
