MBMA holds opening ceremony for 2nd edition of “Dhiyafa” program

Manama, Mar.19 (BNA): Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy of Diplomatic Studies (MBMA) organized a ceremony to launch the second edition of the “Dhiyafa” program, which hosts a number of international diplomats from various member countries of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD).

MBMA Director General,  Dr. Muneera bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, welcomed the international diplomats participating in the second edition of the “Dhiyafa” program, expressing her thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, for their great attention and continuous follow-up to support the Academy’s efforts.

This would support the implementation of the Academy’s vision in diplomatic training, and encourage its tireless quest to keep abreast of developments and prepare for changes in the field of diplomatic work, as it puts the citizen’s service in mind in determining the outputs of training, she said.

She indicated that this edition of the program coincides with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s assumption of the presidency of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue, expressing her thanks and appreciation to ACD for their assistance in facilitating the organization of this program.

She stressed Bahrain’s commitment to the objectives of the ACD in enhancing cooperation between member states in all fields. She also noted that the program aims to enhance the presence of the Kingdom on the world map, shed light on the cultural exchange between Bahrain and its counterparts from the world, and provide opportunities for exchanging experiences among ACD member states.

ACD Secretary General, Dr. Pornchai Danvivathana, expressed his sincere appreciation to Bahrain for the initiative and the hard work to put together the program this year as one of the activities to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of ACD.

He stated that “Dhiyafa” program provides a venue for diplomats to interact and interchange their views and expertise to deepen our economic ties, friendships and cooperation, adding that the program gives our community the opportunity to benefit from the linkages and networking to all areas to promote future cooperation under the spirit of ACD.

The Ministry’s Chief of Arab Affairs Sector, Ahmed Mohammed Al Tarifi, also delivered a speech in which he welcomed the participants.

He noted that the idea of “Dhiyafa” was born 4 years ago with the support of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa in 2018, when he launched the government innovation competition “Fikra”, which “Dhyafa” had the honor of winning its first edition.

He highlighted that the second edition of “Dhyafa” coincides with Bahrain heading the Asian Cooperation Dialogue, adding that this edition will be highlighted by representations from the vibrant Asian continent through its cultural heritage, civilization and diversity.

It is worth noting that the idea of the “Dhiyafa” program in its second edition focuses on the main axis of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue “Post-Pandemic Green Recovery”.

It coincides with Bahrain’s presidency of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue for the period from 2021-2022, and about 20 diplomats from the member states of the organization will participate in the program.

The “Dhiyafa” program, in both its editions, is considered a milestone in the international events launched by the Kingdom, due to its integrating theoretical and practical aspects in promoting Bahrain in various fields, which targets diplomats from various countries of the world.
