It was in 1958, that UAE was in need of investment companies that would participate in the development of the country as well as enhance the welfare of its people. In order to achieve these objectives for the nation, BIN AWEIDHA HOLDING was founded under the visionary leadership of HIS EXCELLENCY RASHID BIN AWEIDHA, who has had a remarkable & positive influence in the progressive development of the UAE.
HIS EXCELLENCY RASHID BIN AWEIDHA AL QUBAISI is the full name of the Group founder and a member of the reputed Qubaisi family.
HIS EXCELLENCY RASHID BIN AWEIDHA was amongst one of the prominent politicians and businessmen who accompanied the then PRESIDENT OF UAE and the CROWN PRINCE in their various visits to most countries of the world and in attending meetings as well as international economic, commercial and political conferences.

With respect to his official capacity, HIS EXCELLENCY RASHID BIN AWEIDHA is one of the founders of the UAE Federal National Council and the First Deputy Speaker of the Council since its establishment.
Prior to joining the Federal National Council he was a member of the National Consultative Council, which he left to devote himself to the establishment of the National Council.
He was at the same time President of the Legislative Committee, which supervised the drafting of the United Arab Emirates constitution when it was newly established. He was also one of the founders of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry established in 1966.
In terms of his business & commercial capacity, HIS EXCELLENCY RASHID BIN AWEIDHA is one of the founders of different prestigious economic establishments in UAE.
He is one of the founders of NATIONAL BANK OF ABU DHABI (NBAD), the official Bank of the Emirate, as well the FIRST GULF BANK. (Both these banks today have merged and is known as FAB.). He also established the COMMERCIAL BANK INTERNATIONAL (CBI Bank ) where he is still a member of its Board of Directors and the major shareholder.
HIS EXCELLENCY RASHID BIN AWEIDHA is also one of the founders of the NATIONAL BANK OF FUJAIRAH, the ABU DHABI COMMERCIAL BANK as well as other banks.
His powerful legacy continues not just in Banking but in various other sectors such as telecommunications, where he is one of the founders of ETISALAT and is also a primary shareholder in the organization as well as Hotels, where he is again one of the founders of ABU DHABI NATIONAL HOTELS COMPANY, the holding and managing company of most of the major hotels in Abu Dhabi such as SHERATON, HILTON, INTER-CONTINENTAL AND OTHERS.
