Located in KIZAD, Abu Dhabi. Desert Board is the first Palm Fronds Oriented Strand Board (PSB) manufacturer in the world. With over 56,000 m² of innovation, our plant is capable of producing 2.2 million boards per year using only 15% of the abounded 500,000 tons of the UAE palm waste materials that were destined for landfills or are composted where it would take a long time to biodegrade.

About Our Laboratories

Desert Board has effectively pledged its reputation as the market leader in the quality of Oriented Strand board manufacturing and product innovation. Our labs are equipped with State-of-the-art process control instrumentation, advanced automation, and quality control systems.

With constant strive for success, the Testing Laboratory works with our Research and Development laboratory endlessly to ensure the quality of our product is comparable to the best available in the market at all times.

With the efforts of our laboratories and our management’s innovation, we have produced a board that is in compliance with the European Standards EN30:2006 and certified by various local and global entities as a sustainable solution for a better future.

About Our Plant

With special functions and advanced technologies, our plant can be classified is as state-of-the-art. Being the first plant in the world that can transform palm waste into functional palm strand boards, we can ensure that we can lead the market and the industry with confidence.

Our plant is certified by ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018, and our processes are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, Emirates Green Building Council, and a United Nations signatory of the Global Compact initiative.

Our plant is equipped with high-efficiency wood dust filtration systems, which are installed for the main manufacturing process as well as at various transfer points to avoid dust emissions into the atmosphere. The plant is controlled by a Central Control Room with built-in software and the latest technologies to recycle up to 80% of wood dust generated during the board manufacturing process for energy production.

Desert Board is an institution when it comes to innovation and sustainability. We produced the world’s first Palm Strand Board that is made from locally sourced palm tree fronds. We design innovative sustainable solutions in collaboration with communities, clients, & stakeholders to build a better future together. Our common future depends upon a healthy global environment and sustainable management of the world’s renewable forestry resources.

In December 2021, we managed to produce an Oriented Strand Board from Date Palm Fronds, and it was a milestone to be proud of.

Sustainability is more than a commitment to us. We centered our business on this principle and made our core values related to it. Our raw materials are waste wood that was rescued and recycled into a reliable building material.

Our Products

We offer three different types of Palm Strands Boards, each one of them can be OSB3 for heavy reliable applications or OSB2 for regular lightweight uses. We also offer the opportunity to change the thickness of our boards, as our production facility is capable of producing boards with thickness between 9mm to 44mm.
