His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE is known for his enthusiastic interest in sports, especially in the martial art of Jiu-Jitsu.

His Highness is ambitious to make the UAE, specifically Abu Dhabi, a centre for Jiu- Jitsu by designating it as the UAE National Sport and marking our beloved capital Abu Dhabi, as the “world capital of Jiu-Jitsu.” Having seen the positive changes and
the impact that Jiu-Jitsu has had on his son’s character and attitude, HH Sheikh Mohammed has confidence that in practising Jiu-Jitsu, one will change his/her mentality and take broad strides towards a clear and ambitious direction. Recognising that physical education programs did not feature martial arts, a comprehensive Jiu-Jitsu program was introduced to public schools and other government entities across the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Notwithstanding, HH Sheikh Mohammed is passionate about the concept of “mens sana in corpore sano” (a healthy mind in a healthy body). He is keen to transform Abu Dhabi into a health- conscious community.
